Just a very quick news post to let you know that a brand new and improved Farquhar Kitchen Centre website will be launching on Australia Day 2011.
EDIT: Slight delay… looks like we’ll be going live Saturday 29th of January!
The completely re-designed site has been developed to allow our blog and our main website to be rolled into one, with a much improved and user-friendly layout.
Also, given that our current website is based on flash technology, we felt it was a high priority to move to a more iPad and iPhone friendly format. Another great feature of the new site will be the gallery section. Kitchen photos seem to be one of the most popular features on our site, so we’ll be posting new kitchen images on a month to month basis.

At the recent HIA Awards ceremony, held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, we were thrilled to have Renette Burne take out the top individual honour (in the kitchen category) of 2010 South Australian Kitchen Designer of the Year.
With stellar designs and clever solutions, Renette was able to impress the judges and will now head interstate to represent South Australia in the national finals.
On behalf of the whole team at Farquhar Kitchen Centre, we wish Renette the best of luck and congratulate her on being recognised for the many years of hard work and fantastic kitchen designs.
An award well deserved.
The latest trends point to white, high shine kitchens with highlights of colour.
GLOSS finishes add wow factor if you’re looking for a sleek style that’s in step with the latest in European kitchen chic. They remain the fashionable kitchen finish, according to Darren Farquhar from the Farquhar Kitchen Centre.
He recently viewed the latest in kitchen design, technology and fi nishes at the 2010 Eurocucina kitchen design fair in Italy with brother Michael. “The Milan Fair provides our company with the opportunity to be at the cutting-edge of both design and product offerings to our clients,” Darren says. “Eurocucina confi rmed the ongoing trend is white, white and white with highlights of colour to complement the finishing touches of a kitchen feature wall such as a glass splashback.”
Handle-less kitchens and simplistic design were also popular this year. Darren says clients are attracted to the classic, classy look that gloss provides and its simple application to any kitchen design. “Laminate finishes will always dominate the kitchen market in terms of colour range and versatile application,” he says. “However, the trends from Europe and the manufacturers of gloss fi nishes are releasing durable and cost-effective gloss products to the market, providing a great range of decorative fi nishes for clients to select from at competitive prices.”
Darren says the Farquhar company has already introduced new product ranges and finishes following the visit to Milan. Its Norwood showroom, which is open six days, contains five display kitchens dedicated to gloss products including laminate, PVC, acrylic and 2-pac painted finishes. “These finishes all provide the same level of finish, just variations in edge profiling, sheen, durability and colour selection,” says Darren.

Just a quick post to let you know that Michael and Darren Farquhar headed over to Milan, Italy, to visit the largest kitchen trade fair in the world – Eurocucina 2010. Held every two years, this is where much of the exciting new trends and products first hits the public.
With so many manufacturers, designers and products there will be a huge amount to report back on, so stay tuned to this blog for a full rundown when they return… if Iceland’s volcanic ash lets up
